What happen's after the Thanksgiving Dinner? - LOTS! Tonight you are looking at the growth of the New England colonies which will lead to the first major conflict between native peoples and the English colonists. This conflict is called King Phillip's War. Here is what you need to do:
  • A. Go to Edmodo and pull off the map which shows the Growth of the New England colonies. Tomorrow, come in ready to tell me how many colonies are in New England once Plymouth was successful, were there other Europeans around and, if so, where, and what was the dominant river in New England?
  • B. Watch this video about the coming of the Puritans and the growth of the early colonies in New England. We will talk about this tomorrow - possible T/F quiz?
  • C. Watch this next video - only the first 1 1/2 minutes - about Massasoit and his son Metacom/Phillip.
  • D. Eventually, Massasoit, the friend and helper to the first Pilgrims dies and his son Metacom, also known as Phillip, becomes Sachem (chief)
  • Now, watch these two about King Phillip's War. - Video #1 and Video #2  EDMODO has the handout to fill out for information on this war. We will talk about it tomorrow in class!
