Friday, March 1st, 2013

1. The test for Pre-Columbian America and the Age of Exploration is Wednesday, March 6th - a study guide is available on Edmodo. Let me know if you have questions. I will try to schedule a review session after school on Tuesday, March 5th

2. I forgot to hand back the essay checklists in most of the classes - so I will hand them out on Monday. You should use them to update your essay. This is the way I will grade the essay on the test. Okay?

3. On Friday, you heard about the failed Narvaez expedition into La Florida. Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca was on that expedition. His 8 year journey back to Mexico City is one of the most incredible stories of the Conquistadors! Now, I want you to hear another - the story of Francisco Vasquez de Coronado's expedition deep into the American Southwest and Great Plains.

  • First, read some of the background of who Coronado was and what happened with him.
  • Second, study his route.  What were some of the sites Coronado and his men saw on this amazing journey?
We will talk more about Coronado on Monday.

See you then!
