Thursday, April 8th

Okay, we are going to do something different for your homework tonight. First, you will need to read pages 94-96 in your history book. You don't need to read the Salem Witch Trials yet because we will talk about that on Monday.

Okay, now I want you to write a short story about what you just read concerning the Puritans. Yes, a story. Your story will have four paragraphs because it will contain four topics. Just follow what it says below and you will be fine. I will tell you what each paragraph should be about. Here is the outline of your story:

Paragraph One - the beginning of your story (give it a good intro) and this paragraph should tell the story of who the Puritans are, their Great Migration, John Winthrop, and the city they founded (Boston).

Paragraph Two - a way of life develops for the Puritans - the call it the New England Way. In your story describe the four beliefs (what they emphasized) in their society. Explain them, don't just list them. This is a story.

Paragraph Three - Now you should continue your story about the people that Challenged Puritan Leaders and their ways. People like Roger Williams, Anne Hutchison, and Quakers should be mentioned.

Paragraph Four - the end of you story for the moment - you should tell the tale of King Philip's War - so much for being a "City on a Hill" for all to see....what happened in the war, what was it about, what was the result?  The End

Okay - the last thing you need to do - If you could choose anyone, I mean anyone, from history to read your story, who would you choose? Write this at the bottom of your page - you will understand why later.....

YOUR WHOLE STORY SHOULD BE NO MORE THAN ONE PAGE!!!!
